Academia– Music and Performance Integrated Workshop was the first in a series of events highlighting the 2019 Golden Melody Awards and Festival. The workshop consists of 5 days of intense courses took place every Saturday and Sunday from April 20th to May 4th, 2019. Diverging from the curriculum focusing on lyrics and song writing last year, the emphasis for this year was on vocal techniques, physical and vocal performances, visual aesthetics and personal marketing. Through the guidance of professional lecturers, the workshop endeavored to add to the attendees’ capacity for live performances.
This year’s lecturers include 9 professionals from their respective area of expertise; live performance master Yoga Lin, premier stylist of choice for A-list celebrities Chen Sun-hua, full-range performance YouTuber Outlander, behind the scene expert-level producer Zhong Xing-min, theatrical performance director Chen Jin-huang, vocal performance directors Lin Zi-yin and Huang Xiu-zhen, new generation film director Hsieh Chien Chien, and Youtube Associate Manager of Greater-China Strategic Collaboration Isabel Lin.
This will be Yoga Lin’s second experience as a mentor after his tenure with the show Jungle Voice. He would be giving the lecture alone, and personally instruct the attendees on some of the more critical aspects of live performances. Lin stated that he looked forward to the interactions he would have with the attendees as well as their performances. YouTuber Outlander would also the steps he took from his years in a school club till his current occupation as a YouTuber, and how to successfully employ personal marketing.
This year’s GMA Academia offered a wide range of curriculum, including live performance techniques, application of physical performance and vocal performance techniques, styling aesthetics, personal marketing. The workshop was open for registration to students from pop-music and relevant departments of all colleges and universities.
