The 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony

Popular Japanese Band YUZU and Evan Yo Sings Bridge of Glory on the GMA Stage

......... 2019/6/19 . . .
The popular Japanese band, YUZU, and Evan Yo has been invited to perform YUZU's famous song, Bridge of Glory, at the 30th Golden Melody Award Ceremony. This is their first time on the GMA stage. On being invited, YUZU expresses, “it is an honor to be invited to participate in a music award of such history. We hope that we can perform to our best extent and act, just as the song is named, as a bridge for Asia.” Evan Yo, on being able to collaborate with YUZU on his GMA debut tells us that “this is my dream GMA debut to be able to participate as a performer at the 30th GMA and collaborate with the popular YUZU band that has created so many classics. I look forward to it a lot! I'd also like to thank YUZU in person for writing Bridge of Glory as it encourages people working towards a dream to dream on. It offers people a warm and resolute strength.”

Japan's popular band, YUZU, and Evan Yo was invited to perform at the 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony. They will be performing one of YUZU's most famous songs, Bridge of Glory, together. The song first came out in 2004 and selected by the NHK as the official song for the Athens Olympics during the same year. In 2017, the song was also chosen as the finale song for the 69th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. The song has long been considered by music aficiondos as one of Japan's national pop songs. Having been on the music scene for 20 years, YUZU's original, diverse, and refreshing songs are widely adored by its audience which is why they have been able to maintain their status in Japan's music scene. YUZU held concerts in Taiwan in 2016 and 2017 but this is their first time performing on the GMA stage, of this they say, “we hope to start with Taiwan and gradually make our music and Japan's music known to Asia.” YUZU is also very fond of Taiwanese food as they reveal that bubble tea and foot massages are what they look forward to the most. They also shouted out to their Taiwanese fans in Chinese, saying, “Hi everyone! We're YUZU and we're back. We've missed you.” This GMA performance is also YUZU's first time working with a Taiwanese celebrity, so they're excited to see more interactions happen musically, “we're very excited and when we see Evan Yo we'd like to thank him for collaborating with us. We also want to discuss each other's music.”

Equally excited about the collaboration, Evan Yo will be playing the piano for the Bridge of Glory performance. He tells us that he was surprised and elated when he received the invitation and that he really likes Bridge of Glory, he says that, “the hardest part about playing the piano for this song is that you have to play it in the same spirit the song is trying to express for the performance to be equally inspiring as the original. The intro, interlude, and outro rhythms of this song are all incredibly memorable.” Evan Yo is not taking this performance lightly; to ensure that he performs well at the GMAs, he practices multiple times every day, as much as he can, hoping that his fingers will have muscle memory for playing the song. He was also coy about his new project that will be coming out in August, “the songs are very different from any I've produced before.
I was also able to work with musicians that I admire a lot. I'm proud to say that the ten songs are all very good so I hope you guys look forward to it.”
