The promotional video for the 30th Golden Melody Awards is now (24th) out! The driving concept this year is I SEE MUSIC, as the GMAs try to reconstruct an artist's emotional journey from a struggling artist to a GMA winner. In the 3D video, the geometric spheres represent the artist's internal struggle to strive for more. It crashes and collides as it comes in contact with outside world, leaving scars as testimony to its growth. The sphere absorbs the energy and sparks to form a small universe within that shines when the artist ultimately takes his or her place on the GMA stage. Following the release of the promo video, the GMA team will be releasing four dynamic posters that we can look forward to.
The “Promo Video Visuals Design Coordinator,” Yan Po Chun, once won the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award for his work for the 28th GMAs. He points out that “the 30th GMAs hopes to spotlight what originally touched the artist. The design this time attempts to combine visuals, animation, and music. It was a completely new challenge this time working with Chen Chien-chi, Director Kim Chen, Shortwave Film etc. I believe that the GMA spirit is one filled with experiments.” In his first time as GMA”s “Promo Video Music Coordinator,” Chen Chien-chi went to the drawing board after first seeing the video, “I combined the piano from classical music with the waves of electronic music to try and construct a diverse and rich music that is symphony-like by using the smallest elements. The most precious thing about music is that it can elicit visuals in our minds and further elicit emotions”
The 30th GMA's promo video's central theme is “the moment of glory is a result of countless hours of practice. What transcends is not just the music but also the loneliness, happiness, pain and joy that transcends with the melody.
This is the grace of music, the resonance of energy weaves together the heart of all artists through its legacy. In the glorious moment of the 30th GMA, don't forget to listen to yourself first and then see what touched you.” The director Kim Chen describes how she translated the abstract concept into tangible visuals, “using geometric spheres to represent musicians as they go through the emotional preparation, the turmoil, and then absorbing all of that until they finally reach the peak. During the process we also used ‘Retina' and the idea of breaking the film to derive and delineate the details.” Animation Producer Su Hong-xiu on the difficulties of production states that, “because everyone had a different idea when we were on the drawing board, we used words and images to put it together and have discussions. We continued to make changes, finally coming up with a video that aligns with the central concept.”
The 30th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be hosted on June 29th, 2019 at the Taipei Arena. The organizer, TTV, will be airing the red carpet live in the afternoon and then the award ceremony at 7 P.M.. The 2019 GMA Festival will last from June 26th, 2019 to June 29th, 2019 where a slew of events including an Conferences, Biz Matching Center, Exhibition, Showcase, GMA Heat, etc. will be held. Prominent international speakers will be invited to share their experiences and interact at the GMA events. GMA will also expand its strategic alliance with major music festivals around the world so the audience will be able to listen to different music and performance styles coming from different regions and countries.
