The 32nd Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be held on June 26th, 2021 at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan. The key vision for the GMA is designed by top visual designers in Taiwan each year. The 32nd Golden Melody Awards Ceremony consultant, Isaac Chen, collaborated with three design teams around the core design concept of “Hear the Music, See the Sounds”. The emphasis was that “every musician has a unique trajectory that is similar to a musical & visual feast”. Chen shared that, “GMA key visions are about consistency but also differentiation. We want to preserve the depth, prestige, grandeur, and characteristics of the GMA while emphasizing or dissecting certain details through a slo-mo approach. I am happy that we were able to complete three designs at different stages. It was because the three teams had a clear consensus and great teamwork that we were able to deliver such exquisite, outstanding visions.”
The creative origin for the 32nd GMA was “see the trajectory of sound” and the goal was to craft a multi-faceted and intriguing story. Visual Concept Designer – Yang Shi-Ching – was inspired by explorer satellites launched into outer space by the U.S. in 1977 and envisioned a “Gold Vinyl” containing records of Earth sounds aboard the satellite. From there, he derived visual design elements such as “Carrying the History of GMA”, “Carrying Musical Images”, and “Towards a New Beginning”. The Key Vision Designer – MixCode – believes that “Music Origins” is like the dropping drumstick tips on a drum that forms rhythm, tempos, and various trajectories. It becomes a unique but diverse gold that ultimately culminates into the brilliant key vision for the 32nd GMA. Nomination Video Designers – Organic Graphic Motion Ltd. And Director Bo Wei Su – consider music to be symbols downloaded onto earth akin to beautiful staffs and music comprised of utility poles and birds. Isaac Chen mentioned that “with highly developed digital platforms and a flourishing generation of modern new music, the three teams tell moving stories from upload to trajectory and to download. We urge the audience to enjoy and experience the stories throughout the ceremony”.
On working with top design teams in Taiwan, Isaac Chen shared that, “they’re all so young. I hope to work with new teams each year because young artists and teams in Taiwan have such passion. Their passion brings in new information. The creativity is all theirs, we just had to review their works and so it was such a satisfying collaboration. We hope that everyone enjoys their work during the ceremony. You don’t even need to dive deep into the details!”
The 32nd Golden Melody Awards Ceremony will be hosted on June 26th, 2021 (Sat) at the Taipei Arena. The organizer, TTV, will be airing the red carpet live at 5 P.M. and then the award ceremony at 7 P.M.. The 2021 GMA Festival will also host a slew of events including an International Conference, Biz-matching, and Showcase Ticketed Concert. Both physical and online events will be held in conjunction. Prominent international speakers will be invited to share their experiences and the GMA will also expand its strategic alliance with major music festivals around the world so the audience will be able to enjoy different music and performance styles from various regions and countries.
